The final exam consists of the writing and public discussion of a master’s dissertation (tesi di Laurea magistrale) in English.
The dissertation (15 000 to 20 000 words, approximately 50 pages), elaborates on a topic covered by the programme and may be developed in connection with the work done during the internship. The dissertation is an original piece of academic work written by the candidate under the supervision of a Professor of the Programme (Supervisor/Relatore).
Students having obtained the credits for taught courses, the compulsory internship, and the agreement of their supervisor can be admitted to the discussion of their final exam (21 ECTS).
Students having completed meritorious extracurricular activities (such as additional internships, participation in Summer Schools or moots, student assistant positions), and who are not eligible for both automatic extra points, may request to be awarded an optional extra point towards their final grade.
After the master’s public defence, a final grade, expressed on a scale of 110, is assigned by the Graduation Board. It takes into account the student’s academic performance (weighted average grades of exams), extra points (automatic or optional), and the assessment of the final exam (including the dissertation and the discussion).
Final exams are taking place remotely through the Microsoft Teams platform, in line with the Commission set-up procedures defined by each study programme.
